Self-love on Valentines Day

💖💖💖 Self love, also known as self compassion,

is the ability to treat yourself with understanding and kindness and become aware of your emotions and reactions. 🧠


Self-love means treating yourself like you would treat your best friend. We wouldn’t judge or talk down to our best friend so let’s not do it to ourselves. 👩🏽‍❤️‍💋‍👩🏼

We listen with empathy and understanding to a best friend and are quick to remind them that mistakes are normal.🤷🏼‍♀️


We naturally validate their emotions, and don’t make them feel worse.💖


Self-love, or self compassion, activates the self soothing system in the prefrontal cortex, producing feelings of security, attachment and safety. 🤗


This deactivates the brain’ threat system, and decreases levels of the stress hormone cortisol. 🤯


Studies show that practising self-love builds resilience in the face of difficulty. It also increases physical, mental and emotional health.


From self-love comes healing, growth and peace.🌞
